Other Brands I’ve Tested

My goal is to find the absolute best filtered shower head, which means testing lots of options. The brands listed here I’ve bought and tested, which includes analyzing their filtration claims, build quality, design, return policies and overall value. These are all cheaper brands, so I didn’t expect as much. Unfortunately the cheaper price resulted in a filter that did absolutely nothing.

These brands didn’t make my list of top brands due to ineffective filtration.

  • MDhair
  • MyHalos
  • Cobbe
  • PUR
  • Drivse
  • Sprite Showers

should I use a filtered shower head?

A quality shower filter is essential for anyone serious about their skin & hair.

What I’ve noticed for myself & my clients

  • Less hair shedding
  • Softer skin
  • Smoother complexion
  • Healthier hair

I personally think everyone should invest in a filtered shower head. It’s been the #1 thing for my skin and hair!

Top 5 Brands To Consider

Of all the filtered showerheads i’ve bought and tested, these 5 premium brands offer good filtration and build quality. Click on the brand name to learn more.

What I’ve Learned

Filter Claims

Watch out for the brands that don’t tell you what they use in their filters, or if they have 10+ stages.

The 3 primary materials that effectively remove harmful chemicals from your hot shower water; KDF-55, Calcium Sulfite, and Activated Carbon.

Beyond that, the filter can also enhance the water. But based on my experience only 2 stages are needed for this. Vitamin C and a pH balancing stage. Beyond that, it’s an unnecessary ‘filler’ stage.

The brands that use a combination of these, without other ‘filler’ stages, have consistently shown the best results.

All of my top 5 recommendations use a blend of these materials without other useless filter media. I don’t recommend Eskiin mainly because of this.

Company Policies

Many brands will advertise great return policies, but if you dig a little deeper you find out they have hidden caveats. For example, I discovered Eskiin advertises ‘try risk free- 60 day money back guarantee’, but they charge you for return shipping. Not a huge deal, but in this day and age we usually expect free return shipping. Just something to keep in mind.

A shower head water filter is a device that removes impurities from water to improve its purity for healthier skin, hair and overall well being.

Usually the filter is located inside the filtering showerhead, but some brands have external filters that are installed behind your existing showerhead.

Each brand is different. Afina requires new filters every 2 months, but most commonly they last 3 months.

Over 90% of the tap water in the USA has high levels of chlorine, disinfection byproducts (DBPs) and hard water which are harmful when showered in every day. So I definitely consider them necessary since I care about my skin and hair!

Most people notice healthier skin and hair within the first couple months. Issues like hair shedding, dry skin, eczema, psoriasis, acne, dandruff and others can be caused or worsened by the chemicals in your shower.
