Not every shower filter is the same! My goal is to help you understand the difference between a good shower filter and a bad one. Let’s start with common shower filter ingredients.

KDF 55- Probably the most powerful ingredient for chlorine reduction is KDF-55. Any good shower filter has KDF-55.

pH balancing media changes the pH of your water from around 7.5pH to match your skins natural pH of ~5.5, reducing stress and irritation.

Other stages- Some brands have many stages beyond what I've listed. I would consider these 'filler' stages without much added benefit.

A good shower filter can serve two purposes.

1- Filtration (obviously)

There are three main stages used for shower filtration. KDF-55, Calcium Sulfite, and Activated Carbon.

2- Enhancement

Shower filters with 15 or 20 stages claim to enhance your water, but most of them are not actually effective. From my testing and research, only certain stages provide real benefits, mainly Vitamin C or a pH balancing stage.
